What is the password for my SBI, ICICI, PNB or other bank statement PDF?

Most Indian banks password-protect e-statement PDFs with your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format (e.g. 16031994) — no spaces or slashes. A few banks use a different format: Bank of India uses the first 4 letters of your name (lowercase) + DOB as DDMM, and Central Bank of India uses your Customer ID + "@" + DOB as DDMMYYYY. If the standard format doesn't work, check the password hint printed on your bank's statement email or download page.

The Form 16 PDF from the Income Tax e-filing portal is usually password-protected with the first 5 characters of your PAN (uppercase) followed by your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format — for example, if your PAN starts with ABCDE and you were born on 16 March 1994, the password is ABCDE16031994.

Accepted Answer

The guesser tries the standard format for the document type you selected, but some banks customise this per account or have changed their convention over time. If the guess fails, switch to "I know the password" and type it in directly, or try "Not sure — try everything" — the unlock still happens fully in your browser either way.

What is the password for a mutual fund statement (CAS) from CAMS or KFintech?

Consolidated Account Statements (CAS) from CAMS or KFintech are usually password-protected with just your PAN, in capital letters — for example ABCDE1234F. Select "Mutual Fund / CAS" and enter your PAN to unlock it.

We deliberately don't build a blind password-cracker: trying millions of random combinations is mostly useful for breaking into documents that aren't yours, and for a modern PDF (AES encryption) that kind of brute force is too slow to be practical anyway. What actually works almost every time: choose "Not sure — try everything" and fill in whatever details you have — name, date of birth, PAN, mobile number, customer ID.
